On August 23, DJI launched two Mavic 2 Drone in New York.
These two products are Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom respectively. They both inherit Mavic Pro‘s foldable fuselage design and are folded to the size of a mineral water bottle. Standard configuration includes a smart flying battery, screen remote control, spare blade, charger and other accessories, in addition to an optional suite.
DJI has been developing for two years and invested more than half of its R&D personnel in Mavic 2. What’s new about DJI Mavic 2? Why is it the new best flagship consumer drone?
Let’s take a look at the video:
Mavic 2 Pro, Young People’s First Hasselblad Camera
Mavic 2 pro carries the L1D-20c lens developed jointly by DJI and Hasselblad. Hasselblad ‘s brand logo is printed naked on the lens’s head. My colleague looked at it and joked, “Hasselblad: I’m a fuselage player, and finally I was hit by Logo on the lens.”
Don’t be too smart about the logo on it. Think about how Huawei P20 team up with Leica to make its image level more visible and purchasing power, and that’s the only way to raise the price.
This gives DJI a stronger image narrative ability.
More than that, the L1D-20c lens has a 1-inch, 20-megapixel CMOS sensor, the rumored “bottom-level killer”, with a built-in wide-angle lens with an equivalent focal length of 28 mm. The aperture can be adjusted freely between f/2.8 and f/11, and can also shoot 10-bit Dlog-M and 4K HDR videos.
Mavic 2 Pro supports 10bit 4K HDR, let’s see the video:
The great sale point of Mavic 2 Pro is Hasselblad Lens.
Mavic 2 zoom, the first consumer-class aerial camera drone with optical zoom
Mavic 2 zoom is equipped with the first optical zoom camera for consumer-grade aerial photography in DJI. It has built-in 1/2.3 inch 12 million pixel CMOS sensor. It supports 2-fold optical zoom. It can cover 24 mm to 48 mm focal length. It can achieve up to 4-fold lossless zoom when shooting full-HD video.
According to the official introduction, the Mavic 2 zoom adopts a hybrid focusing method combining phase focusing and contrast focusing, and the focusing speed is increased by about 40%. The combination of intelligent focusing system can ensure that the subject remains clear and sharp in the zoom process.
Mavic 2 zoom has a “super-resolution” mode compared with the professional version. In this mode, the camera automatically takes nine photos at the long focal end by adjusting the lens orientation, and automatically synthesizes a 48-megapixel ultra-high resolution photo in the machine.
But in the demonstration video, the Mavic 2 zoom also has a very unique function – sliding zoom, users only need to light the screen, frame the object of shooting, it can change the view while away from the subject of shooting, automatic realization of the impact of visual effects.
Mavic 2 has great Upgrade from the Mavic pro
Mavic 2 Professional Edition and Zoom Edition are officially the most powerful aerial camera drone in DJI so far.
1) For the first time, the voyage broke through 30 minutes and got 31 minutes, while Mavic Pro was 27 minutes. According to DJI, a minute longer flight will give users a minute more pleasure in aerial photography.
2) Aerodynamic design was optimized on the basis of Mavic Pro, which reduced the aerodynamic drag in high-speed flight by 19%, and increased the maximum flight speed to 72 km/h in motion mode.
3) FOC sinusoidal drive electric tuning and noise reduction propeller reduce noise.
4) The new image transmission system OcuSync 2.0 is adopted, which can realize 1080P full-high-definition image transmission within 8 km. Mavic Pro is a 7 km map transmission distance.
5) The Mavic 2 series has 8GB airborne storage space and supports the expansion of the Micro SD card. It has been implemented on the Mavic Air released in January this year to avoid forgetting to insert the Micro SD card and affecting flight.
6) Intelligent tracking system has been upgraded to 2.0. There are 10 visual sensors on Mavic 2. One monocular vision sensor is added on both sides of the fuselage. At the same time, the top infrared distance sensor can detect obstacles up to 8 meters above the drone, which can greatly reduce the probability of the bomber.
Particularly noteworthy is that Mavic 2’s two new products add a button shooting delay photography function, supporting four modes of freedom, surround, orientation and trajectory delay, bringing the delay photography in mobile phones to the sky.
Obviously, Mavic 2 has better cameras, and collaboration with Hasselblad has also improved the Forge, but at the same time, the zoom version can take some unique photos or videos, such as sliding zoom. If you are rich and buy both at the same time, there’s nothing to say. But for the vast majority of consumers, a single drone is often enough. So I suggest that DJI learn from the SLR camera to choose lens, make drone lens disassemblable and optional, so that I can have at least one drone with Hasselblad lens and zoom lens at the same time, without the need to buy two drones.
In terms of buying suggestions, I don’t have any suggestions. It’s enough for everyone to buy according to their own purchase budget and preferences. But if you are not a fan of drones and a beginner, I would suggest that you consider Mavic Pro or Mavic Air, which are foldable, small and exquisite, and the key is that the price is much cheaper.
Now let’s take a look at the comparison table among the mavic 2 and mavic pro and mavic air:
